Who Wears The Crown?

Poems For The Covid Season by Caz Jones

National emergency

Written the morning after we were all told to stay at home and only go out for essentials.

Thank you Lord,

That the birds still sing,

That the sun still shines,

That the flowers still grow.

Thank you for reminding us

Stuff doesn’t matter

But people do.

Thank you for technology

And creativity

And serendipity.

Thank you for putting so much of our lives

Back in the right order.

Thank you Lord.

Who Wears The Crown?

The word corona means crown, and the virus is so named because of its shape. However, according to my Christian faith there is only one person who wears the crown - for eternity - and that is Jesus Christ. I’ve been thinking about how we shouldn’t allow coronavirus, even in our worst moments, to truly wear the crown in our own lives.

Who wears the crown?

Not covid, you bow down!

Don’t think of the bad things,

Think of the good.

For some people, lockdown means

Chaos, conflict, noise.

For others it means

Rest, quiet, peace.

Don’t think business collapse,

Think innovation -

What can we do

To save our nation?

Not what we’ve lost,

But what have we found?

Our life before was no great shakes,

Let’s think about moving on -

The ground breaks.

What do we want?

What do we need?

Can we make it happen?

Not covid, you bow down!

NEW LIFE wears the crown!
