Give Me a Sight

The Crowd (1)

Mean, angry, merciless

They condemn the One they hardly know

Mob-rule, crowd-confident

The Religious Leaders

Callous, pitiless

They sneer

Too proud to see,

Blinded by hypocrisy

The Soldiers

Brutal, cruel

They torture

Heartless

They divide up clothes

Cowardly

They mock

JESUS

Meekly

He submits

Mother Mary

Overwhelmed in grief

She wails

John the Beloved

Devastated, speechless

He watches

Mary Magdalene

Heart-broken

She collapses

Criminal (1)

Desperate? Resentful? Unseeing, uncomprehending

He insults

Criminal (2)

Meaculpa

Perceiving truth

He reaches out in faith

JESUS

Forsaken

He breathes His last

The Centurion

Discerning

He praises God

The Crowd (2)

Confused

They beat their breasts

And take their leave

Joseph of Arimathea

Brave, generous, respectful

He carries the body

Caring and loving

He anoints and wraps the body

And lays it in a tomb

Me

‘O make me understand it

Help me to take it in

What it meant to Thee, the Holy One

To take away my sin’*
