The Act of Rededication

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,

but you are citizens with the saints

and also members of the household of God,

built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,

with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.

In him the whole structure is joined together

and grows into a holy temple in the Lord;

in whom you also are built together spiritually

into a dwelling-place for God.

Ephesians 2:19-22

Bishop:

Brothers and sisters, let us ask God our Father,

that these church buildings recently refurbished

and extended,

be a place of joy and love,

harmony and trust,

security and truth

and that the work completed on this building

will contribute to the building of his kingdom

and join us in faith and love to Christ,

who is the cornerstone.

Let us bless the Lord.

All:

Blessed be God for ever.

Bishop:

Lord God, you have given us the knowledge and power

to become your co-workers.

Let us bless the Lord.

All:

Blessed be God for ever

Bishop:

Through your Son you have chosen to build your Church upon solid rock.

Let us bless the Lord.

All:

Blessed be God for ever

Bishop:

Through the Spirit of your Son you shape and polish us

into living stones forming us into a spiritual house

where you make your dwelling place.

Let us bless the Lord.

All:

Blessed be God for ever

Bishop:

We commit ourselves afresh to the service of your Son

and look forward to the coming of your kingdom in its fullness where together with St John and all the saints

we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Let us bless the Lord.

All:

Blessed be God for ever

Bishop:

Eternal God, and builder of all things,

you have created all things through your Son and have made him the unshakable foundation of your kingdom.

We ask you now to bless us and all who will use these buildings.

May all who come here know the presence of Christ,

experience the joy of his friendship,

and grow in his love.

Grant this we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All:

Amen
