“I want to spend time with you!” Zac: the Musical arrives at St John’s - Alison Fuggle
First of all a very big thank you for the years you’ve supported me and my work writing lyrics, narrations and (in the past) drama for Roger Jones and Christian Musical Ministries. Sharing the Lord Jesus through worship and story-telling can be great fun, but often the writing and re-writing is long and solitary work. Knowing others are praying for us makes all the difference.
Thank you all again.
Secondly an Invitation to come (and invite others) to enjoy an evening with the latest musical the creation of which your prayers have supported: Zac : the Musical at St John’s Harborne 22 May at 7pm. Music by Roger Jones. Lyrics and narrations by Alison Fuggle with the CMM choir, soloists and narrators. Suitable for all ages. Come and bring your friends.Entrance free, but pay as you feel
The short story (Luke 19: 1-11) of the similarly short Zacchaeus entertained me as a child, as it may have done many of you. But the story has a message for us all. “I want to spend time with you!” Jesus sings in the musical. As their encounter proceeds, Zac responds in the words of Psalm 51, “Create in me a clean heart, O Lord.”
Jesus wants to come and spend time with us, our friends, family, even our acquaintances. Our longing is that in this short and (we hope) entertaining take on the story, the Lord’s invitation and challenge will reach out and touch hearts. So if you can, do come along on May 22nd, and enjoy another chance to join Zacchaeus and meet Jesus afresh.
Finally:- a roundup of CMM news:
Roger Jones and CMM soloists will be in Devon at the Appledore Christian Music Festival, 16-18 May, 2025. Among other event this Festival will include:
- “An Evening with Jonathan Veira”
- a chance for anyone to learn and perform in Roger’s The Torn Curtain musical
- Roger speaking on Sunday morning at Choral Eucharist, including his setting of the Communion.
Zac: the Musical will be the focus at various summer schools, weekends and residential weeks through the year, with participants learning, performing and worshipping as they holiday together.
CMM Choir are also bringing this musical and others to many churches and other community venues.
Please pray for all taking part in these activities, whether leading, learning or listening in. Pray particularly for the CMM choir, some of whom are St John’s members, as they commit spare time to rehearse and then travel to various venues through the year to bring the message of Jesus’ love.
In every case, join us praying that hearts may be open to hear and respond as Jesus says again and again: “I want to spend time with you!” Let us declare with our Lord, “Salvation has come to this place!” (Luke 19:9)
