Alison Fuggle - Christian Music Ministries

An invitation to you all! Premiere of Angel Voices, the Special Edition at Bromsgrove Baptist Church on Saturday 28 March starting at 7pm. (Tickets £5. Book via Christian Music Ministries, cmm.org.uk, phone 01527 576440)

Come and join us to celebrate the love of God, as shown in the book Revelation (the easier bits!) and hear the angels sing “Holy, Holy, Holy”. It should be a great evening.

Angel Voices, which premiered in 1993, was the first CMM musical for which I wrote and produced the drama, and contributed some of the lyrics for local composer Roger Jones. As it is based on themes from Revelation, I was relieved to discover that much of that book is a kind of summary of the rest of the Bible: the story of God’s glorious holiness and his yearning to call each of us back close to him.

The original musical, with full length linking drama, lasted around 2 hours. This new, streamlined Special Edition is designed for concert production with slightly shortened musical score and narration rather than drama. It lasts around an hour or so, suitable to fit into a Sunday service slot or similar. The hope is that it will be more easily usable for local choirs and churches everywhere.

On 28 March there will be a host of angelic soloists, with choir and orchestra to accompany them, all celebrating the way the Lord continues to call to us, “Here I stand at the door and knock…if only you will hear my voice and let me in… if you will just release the lock.”

Pray with us that this musical “resurrection” will see the wonderful declaration of Jesus’ love for us being used in all kinds of ministry, as we echo its final words, “Come, Lord Jesus.”

This last year has seen Roger, his colleague Annie Routley and with teams from CMM, continue to travel to locations around the country, leading “Musical in a day” sessions, teaching seminars, worship weekends and holiday weeks. All these strive to continue CMM’s mission to invite folk to draw close to God, to come to know Jesus more deeply, and to open up to the work of the Holy Spirit in their worship and lives in general.

The musical, Zac, which had its premiere in 2024, (and which the CMM choir brought to us here at St John’s) continues to be used and reused in many ways, including in holiday weeks of music and fellowship. It’s great to have fun with music, as well as using it in worship. So often God breaks in and speaks when we’re not expecting it.

Give thanks to God for all the relationships forged, the praises shared and the experience of God working through this music and ministry.

Pray also for myself and Roger as we consider the possibility of new work, that we would be led by the Spirit as we explore options. Also for stamina to do it, if necessary!

Also pray for the financing of the continuing ministry of CMM, for the office staff and all the expenses of a travelling ministry.

Finally, thank you for all your prayers and your interest, and in some cases your participation in the mission of CMM bringing the Lord to people and seeing his Spirit work through the music and scriptures and fun we share together.
