Bring Hope Near and Far - Heidi Helbig (GAiN)
Two trucks of aid sent to Bulgaria
On the 15th of January, 2026, our second aid truck for this winter arrived in Sofia Bulgaria, bringing with it hope and warmth for many in the city, as temperatures dropped to -10 degrees C. Our partner, Filip Rashev and his team from the Full Gospel church have been organising distribution points, serving many who are in dire need of warm clothes and shoes.
With the first truck that arrived late last year, they were able to help 1,330 families, 2,700 individuals and 1,160 children under 18. One family told them, “Thank you for the timely help and for not leaving us alone in our difficult moment. What you did for us restored our hope and confidence that God truly cares through people like you.”
Help for the people in Gaza
Since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, GAiN has been looking for ways to help people in need throughout the region. After initially delivering aid to those affected in the Gaza Strip, we are now able to bring vital relief supplies directly to the population in the south on a much larger scale.
GAiN is one of very few NGOs that are allowed to bring relief supplies into the Gaza Strip and we are grateful for this opportunity to serve. We have a trusted partner (name withheld for security reasons) who can deliver emergency aid and personally deliver relief supplies, making sure the aid doesn’t fall into the wrong hands but to those who need them the most.
Since October 2025, GAiN and our partner have transported more than 4,000 tons of food aid (170 trucks) to the Gaza Strip with the goal of sending more trucks and scaling up the aid, depending on the partnerships and support we receive, as we continue to help the people in Gaza rebuild their lives.
GAiN has also officially launched a humanitarian field kitchen in Khan Yunis, where it prepares and distributes hot meals to up to 10,000 people daily. All meals are cooked fresh on site and delivered directly to families affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis, ensuring life saving support.
Our partner's dream is to not just send aid but to also work towards a future characterised by peace and reconciliation. This is our dream as well, and that this can be the beginning of lasting peace in Gaza. For more info, visit https://globalaidnetwork.org.uk/
Start of a Ukrainian church at our Involvement Centre
My teammate, Alex Horai joined staff in Ukraine. When the war started, he and his family came to the UK to seek refuge. He and his wife are still on staff with Ukraine for Christ (Agape's name in Ukraine) and continues to minister to Ukrainians by meeting online. He joined GAiN last year and works at our Involvement Centre,
coordinating the sorting and packing of donations. His heart is to do ministry amongst Ukrainian refugees living in the UK.
Since Autumn, he has been organising a Bible study with Ukrainians and last month he started a Ukrainian church service at a room in the Halo Centre in Coventry, where our Involvement Centre is. They started off with 7 people and recently had 20 Ukrainians come for the church service. Most attendees are not Christians and carry deep traumas; many have loved ones still fighting on the frontlines. One Lady talked about having suicidal thoughts and then finding the church on social media. Please pray for Alex, for strength and wisdom as he continues to lead Bible studies and organise the church services. Pray that the Holy Spirit would work and these people would come to know Jesus!
