Powerhouse ONLINE
This month at Powerhouse we will be exploring the theme of ‘Advancing in Kindness’. So much of how Jesus treated people, especially those in need, came out of the overflow of God's heart of kindness. We are going to pray into three areas in which we can be advancing in the kindness of Jesus - as we re-gather as a church family at St John's, in the world around us, and in God’s church around the world. we do hope you’ll be able to join us!

Powerhouse ONLINE
This month Powerhouse - our monthly prayer gathering - will be focusing on the long-awaited return to our new building!
Throughout this term, we have focused on the theme of ‘advance’, and this month we want to pray for our church community that we would be able to ‘advance' into the building - a huge logistical and relational challenge for us all. We will be using a familiar format to help focus on several areas as we begin this process, taking time to look UP (as we gather to worship again); IN (as we pray into the discipleship and fellowship of the church) and OUT (as we focus on what God has for us to bless the community and people around us with).
As part of all this, we also hope to give you a sneak peek into the building. We look very much forward to seeing you online! The evening will be a similar format to Sunday Online and will kick off with live chat at 7.45pm for an 8 o'clock start.

Ash Wednesday Service
Wed 17 Feb | 19.45 | stjohnsharborne.online.church
On Wednesday 17 February we will have the opportunity to start Lent together as we read Scripture, reflect, pray (with the option of ashing) and share an agape meal together, so do make sure you have some bread and wine or something similar to partake with us all.
When we meet in person on Ash Wednesday we would often include ‘ashing’ where those who would like to are marked with a cross in ash as a sign of penitence and as a reminder of our own mortality. Within the online service there will be time for us to mark ourselves with the sign of a cross – you may simply want to do this with your finger on your forehead, or you could use ash (traditionally made from last year’s palm crosses) mixed with oil, or oil on its own.

Powerhouse ONLINE
During February’s Powerhouse - our monthly prayer gathering - we will be continuing our focus on the theme of ‘Advance’. This month we will be praying into the theme of ‘proclaiming peace’ and focusing on three key areas of concerns right now - peace in the pandemic, peace in our community and peace in the nations. As part of that we will be sharing some testimonies of encouragement. We look very much forward to seeing you there!

Powerhouse
Are you hungry to see God’s kingdom come? As a whole church community, we want to revitalise our prayer life, with confidence that the Holy Spirit will meet with us in a powerful way as we bring the needs of the world and our church to God.
This month we will be praying particularly for:
Building for Mission - we are halfway through the project. Let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
Praying for the World - there is so much we could cry out to God over - floods, fires, fears over coronavirus and unrest in Lebanon to name but a few.
We shall also spend time in worship and praise, celebrating answered prayer (do you have a testimony to share) and praying for each other.
We encourage you to come as individuals or small groups to celebrate together God’s ongoing work in our world. Refreshments from 19.30.
Contact Marcus at marcuspagnam@stjohnsharborne.org for more information.

Ash Wednesday
Come and join us for a simple reflective service as we mark the beginning of the season of Lent with our Ash Wednesday service. We will gather to worship, to hear God’s word and to focus our hearts on repentance and prayer. During the service there will be an opportunity to receive the sign of the cross, the imposition of Ashes, as an act of confession and turning to God. Once again we are being hosted by our friends at Oasis Church, South Street. Please note there will be no refreshments at this service.

This month we are going to be praying for the general election and also for those who don’t yet know Jesus to come to know Him personally with a special focus on the ‘Prodigals’. As usual, we want to be open to God’s leading and prompting so please come ready to worship, intercede and listen.
