We're So Thankful

I work for Global Aid Network (GAiN) which is the humanitarian partner of Agapé UK. We involve people in a hands-on response to poverty and crisis through relief work and development projects.

One way to involve people is through our collection points, where people across the UK volunteer to store donations, which are then picked up, sorted and packed by other volunteers, ready to be sent to those who need them. Another opportunity for people to get stuck in is to send volunteers to refugee camps for mission trips, once travelling is safe.

As a result of getting people involved, we’re so thankful we were able to send 30 wash kits, 500 Kg (15,600) nappies and 3,500 pairs of glasses to our Swiss GAiN office in May and from there it will be distributed to refugees in Greece. In June we had the opportunity to send 4.2 tons of donations to our partners in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Romania.

We are planning to send more aid to refugees to help them prepare for winter before the weather gets cold.

Haiti and Afghanistan

The earthquake that struck Haiti, has left more than 2,000 people dead and about 12,000 injured.

Our partner on the ground in Haiti has been responding by bringing food and tarpaulins for shelter. They started in the southwest city of Aquin, then to Les Cayes, Baradères and to Jeremie. These volunteers transport this aid at great risk to their own safety, as desperate people have resorted to theft. We’re thankful that the aid provided has so far reached these families safely.

In Afghanistan, as the Taliban took power after the government collapsed, there is concern particularly for women and children and for those who are not in line with the Taliban, that their safety and lives are threatened. We are working hard reaching some families, who are at risk, to bring them to safety.

The people of Haiti and Afghanistan are desperate and in great need of hope and protection. Please pray for opportunities to help and show them who God is and his love and care in the midst of their crisis.

Thank you for all your prayers and support, I wouldn’t be able to do this work, if not for faithful partners like you!
