It’s great that we can share with you, some happenings in Winson Green and further afield, connected with our ministry. We have been ministering in and around the Birmingham area for almost 5 years. It’s a truly amazing place, and very much needs YOUR prayers. Below are two exerts from our latest newsletter:

"You're an answer to prayer"
It's not every day you hear those words! This was the reaction I received when I approached the neighbouring care home, to where I have been doing my "thought for the day" church service, since last September. The care home activities' co-ordinator told me she had only been discussing the need for some service or spiritual activity for the residents, the day before my visit. I have now been going into this second home for a few weeks and have been delighted with the response and warm greeting from both staff and the residents. It's wonderful to get residents shouting "praise the Lord" after I've read a scripture or singing out loudly to my hymns choices.

The most humbling, touching experience to date, which has come from this second care home, happened two visits ago. A resident in the room, where I do the service, was sitting in a wheelchair, eyes closed, quiet and seemingly non-responsive. Finishing a song, this resident started to make a noise, that at first wasn't audible. A staff member asked me if she wanted her to remove the resident from the room. I was listening to this resident and said "please don't move her, she's humming Amazing grace", which happened to be the song we had just finished singing!!! Beautiful!

Nothing is wasted in God's economy
Can you imagine the response from an Albanian prisoner being greeted in his own language with "Mirëdita, si jeni?" which means good afternoon, how are you!! Chris has been able to use some of the Albanian we learnt, from our time in Kosova with those he's meeting as part of his chaplaincy in Prison. That small sentence in Albanian got an amazed look from the prisoner together with a smile. Nothing is wasted in God's economy!

As part of our ministry in Winson Green, we will be involved with The Great Big Green Week, which runs from 10 -18 June. It is a National environmental engagement week which encourages anyone who wants to, to get involved in projects being run all over. Chris and a team are arranging events for the week. He is specifically wanting people to join in, on Saturday 10 June 11-3pm and Wednesday 14 June from 11am to 6pmish when we finish with a bonfire! It’s a great opportunity to care for our world and environment and a wonderful evangelistic outreach. If interested, please contact: chris.milton@om.org
